Some quick interesting online shopping stats:

  • In march the BBC reported that online shopping is 13% up on last year
  • today the Scotsman reported that Marks and Spencer's total growth in the fourth quarter of last year was 6.2%, but the online sales soared by 48 percent.
  • New Media Age reported that online sales for February 2010 was a record £4.1 billion, with clothing, footwear and accessories’ online sales increased 17%, health and beauty sales were up 28% and online alcohol sales grew 20%.

I feel a lot of the figures come from the US market. In the UK only high St. stores have seen an increase in online sales, but have also seen a reduced footfall.
